Apprentice of the Year – Henry Richards, Finalist

One of our Equipment Engineers, Henry Richards, was selected as a finalist for the Plymouth Manufacturers’ Group Apprentices of the Year Awards 2024.

Henry started as an equipment engineering apprentice in 2020. He completed his HNC in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and is a fully qualified coring and metrology equipment engineer. He is now pursuing a degree in Integrated Engineering Technologies with the University of Plymouth.

Henry has had several accomplishments in his time at Plessey, including being the youngest ever tool owner, which became one of the top-performing machines on site. He has led company-wide initiatives, managed coring while his team leader was out, and created fault guides that have increased his entire team’s efficiency.

The Apprentice of the Year Awards is an annual event highlighting the rising stars across the manufacturing sector in Plymouth. There are four categories, with Henry nominated for the Manufacturing Final Year Apprentice of the Year.
